Prior to any ultrasound exam all of the patientís information is recorded in the ultrasound unit.
Abdominal Ultrasound exams are routinely done while the patient is awake and can be helpful to study the urinary bladder as well as other organs. Cardiac ultrasounds (echocardiograms) are performed on site by a board certified veterinary cardiologist.
The doctors perform ultrasound exams as a tool to further provide our patients with the best care possible. Ultrasound images allow further examination of soft tissue structures for evidence of stones, tumors, obstructions and other abnormalities.
Ultrasound images are saved and if needed may be sent to a board certified radiologist for further evaluation. During the ultrasound examination sterile samples may be obtained from the bladder (such as urine) or other organs and submitted to our laboratory for further examination and testing
Once the exam has been completed the patient is returned to its owner ready to go home after the doctor has reviewed the exam results.
