Surgery
We’re on the Cutting Edge of Veterinary Surgery
At Otterkill Animal Hospital, all of our veterinarians are also surgeons. Our hospital is equipped with a fully loaded surgical suite to provide your pet high-quality surgical care in their time of need. We have a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who travels to us for orthopedic procedures. For some surgeries, our doctors may refer you and your pet to a board-certified surgeon in the area. We have excellent connections with several veterinary surgery specialists in the region and are happy to provide a referral.

What to Expect from Our Veterinary Surgeons
We’d like to show you the excellent care our patients receive when they’re here for a procedure or operation. Patients are all carefully assessed and monitored following guidelines established by the American Animal Hospital Association. We take your pet’s comfort and safety seriously, exercising extreme care at every stage of the process.
All surgeries are performed by highly accomplished, educated, and experienced veterinary surgeons in Campbell Hall. Before your pet enters the operating room, you will receive a comprehensive run-down of everything that will be happening during the procedure. Our veterinarians will happily answer your questions and address any concerns.
After your pet’s procedure, they will enter a time of recovery before going home with you. Certain surgeries may require your pet to stay with us overnight or for multiple days, in which case they will be referred to a facility that offers 24 hour observation and care.
Preparing your home for your pet’s post-surgery recovery can help facilitate a smoother and more comfortable healing process. Create a quiet and comfortable space for your pet to rest, away from noisy or high-traffic areas. Remove any hazards or obstacles that could potentially cause injury, and provide easy access to food, water, and litter boxes. Additionally, follow any specific instructions provided by our veterinarians regarding medication administration, wound care, and activity restrictions.
