Invest in Routine Preventative Care

Annual wellness care is recommended for all animal companions. Wellness care is classified as yearly or twice yearly “check-ups.” Vaccine appointments also qualify as wellness appointments.

Wellness care is important for your pet’s overall health and can aid in the early detection of a variety of conditions. After six years of age, your pet should also undergo yearly blood work. Seeing subtle changes in your pet’s blood work can help us get an early start on disease treatment and prevention.

It is important to remember that animals do not live as long as people, so they “age” much faster. You will find that puppies and kittens require multiple wellness exams when they are growing to keep an eye on their overall health and development.

A wellness examination is also your chance to let us address your questions or concerns about your pet. We welcome your questions – no question is too small or too silly, and it is our pleasure to address your concerns. We strive to help you understand your pet’s health needs and we encourage you to be involved in decisions regarding your pet’s health care.

Finally, wellness examinations help us establish a relationship with you and your pet. Through your pet’s physical examinations, wellness procedures, and our consultations with you, we get to know your pet and learn about his or her lifestyle, personality, health risks, home environment, and other important information. We encourage you to use wellness examinations to take an active role in your pet’s health care.
